Gif-making

I'm waiting for someone to go online, so while waiting I figured I should do the entry on how I make my gifs for a few friends who wanted to know how I do it.

There's a lot of programs for easy gif-making like Ulead (which I had used before) but if you're like me who hates installing different software for different things a difficult way of making gifs is an okay thing to do. I use three programs for gif-making... (and my three most requested programs for all PCs and laptops I have to use)
1. The KM Player - which is my default video player for all video files. (and the most necessary factor in this gif-making)
2. Adobe Imageready
3. Adobe Photoshop CS - for editing images.

I use the old CS version, so if you have a higher version than mine, I think you can directly use Photoshop for this since they have an animation option. I'm not too sure though.

Project outcome:

From this video, at 1:45

1. Open KMPlayer, right click to see Main Control
2. Main Control > Capture > Frame: Extract...
(or Ctrl+G) lol.
You'll see this:

In Extract to: select where you want your caps to be saved. With this project, I made a new folder in My Pictures and labeled it as 'caps'. The captured frames would go there.
In Frames to extract, you can choose the options of saving every frame or setting a number of frames per second or minutes. I like setting a number of frames. I normally make gifs of a few scenes in a clip like in this project so I set mine with 5-9 frames per 1 sec. (The smaller the your time frame, the bigger your frames should be). If I'm capping a movie, I would set it in frames/min.
In this project, I set it for 5 frames/sec (but since the scene was about 3 seconds it's more ideal to set it in 9-11 frames/sec. I just forgot to set it correctly. ;p)

3. Play your video and click Start when you're nearing the scene you want to frame and click Stop when the scene finished. I clicked start at 1:43 and stopped when I saw a change of scene.
4. Go to the folder where you placed your frames. (So in mine My Pictures > caps) Delete the scenes that are not necessary.
5. Open your Adobe Imageready
6. File > Import > Folder as frames...

Select the folder that you want and then it will load your frames.

7. Set time as you see fit. (I set mine at 0.01 sec because I have few frames) Try playing the clip to see how fast or slow your gif is.

8. File > Saved Optimized As...

And you're done!

I jump to Adobe Photoshop when I want to edit the gif to make it into an icon, banner and such. Also when I think the gif is in need of coloring, brightness.... then I jump back into Imagready to save. It's a pain, but it's worth it because I get better quality with my gifs than with other programs. Though I think I'll upgrade my CS version. lol.

You know what? I believe that friendship is something like this.

Like sending a sweet message then getting a lot of expletives in return and telling you to go to hell and feel happy about it.
Perking up when together even for just a second.
Knowing one another so much that you just have to look at him and you'll know if he's the X-Man or not.
Knowing if he's pulling a prank on you and loving one another even if one of them showed your phone number for the whole world to see.
When their family is your family as well.
Showing their support and embarrassing the hell out of you in your movie premiere.
Changing your song lyrics into something funny.
Imitating you in public TV.
Posting your embarrassing pictures online.
Loving them even though they love it that you can't eat and you failing your mission because they won't help.
Making you a song.
They use your underwear without your permission.
You sing a few lines and then suddenly everyone begins singing.
Allowing your nonsense song be sung in a concert.
Making fun of you as your rehearse.
Keeping the letter you gave them ten years ago.
Keeping all your pictures and saving them somewhere safe.
Makes fun of you even though you're already mad.
Treating you like a child.
Kissing you in public.
Cursing you in public.
That even though you haven't met for a long time, it felt as if nothing changed.

We'll get there. I know we will. :D Maybe not on the borrowing one another's underwear though. haha~ saranghaeyo, you dorks. XDDDD

THE ORANGE MINIONS STORY

Never mind that I haven't posted anything about the Tagaytay Trip.

I think this one should be prioritized. :D

OUR STORY.

It's been three years already. May 22. Three years ago, I never thought we'd reach this far.

THE OM STORY.

I was an F4 and Rainie fan way back. Because of those fandoms of mine, I became active in the online world and connected with a lot of people.

It was May 22, 2004 at The Podium when I first met Angel/leechunsa. I attended an event which I think, she and co-admins planned. I went there with Kring/ pulang_talabecause it was partly a gathering for the Faithful4ever members. Angel was a member too.

I almost couldn’t make it then. I was really busy and I wasn’t feeling very well. I’m thankful I did go though.

Because an angel appeared.

The people who headed the event kept on muttering her name and so the new ones like me in the place kind of got curious. I knew her as an6elzhou in Faithful 4ever and it would be the first time for me to meet her.

Angel, with shoulder length hair that made her look like a high school kid, arrived five hours late (I’m going to kill you Angel if you deny this) and up to now, it’s a habit she can’t really change since she doesn’t wear a watch. Hahaha. Minik introduced THE Angel (I stress ‘the’ XD) to everybody and I smiled since her black shirt had a big white ‘Angel’ word printed on it. People there pretty much guessed who she was.

I had chatted with this girl a few times before we actually met and a lot more after our meeting. She asked if I wanted to moderate Joan’s Vanndemonium group and I agreed. So around the end of July, I was chatting a lot with her because we were having an event on August.

August came. The event came. She arrived late again. (Though with an excuse this time hahaha~ I can never pass Miriam College’s Chapel without remembering that event) If it was our second meeting, I can’t remember. After the event we talked with the other mods and she gave me back my CDs (which included FTTS’ ‘Sea of love’ album that she began to like so much) I also got her autograph!

*Yes, it may seem insane but when you cry loudly at a public transportation after reading her ‘Will you wait for me?” fic not minding other people looking as if you were an alien, then it doesn’t seem though.*

I had my own set of ‘online friends’ at that time so I seldom buzz on Angel unless necessary. I can’t remember the specific month (or if it was before the August event) when I was in an YM conference and both of us were there. She asked who knows where to get some Rainie Yang clips. I gave her a forum link (which was owned by Mish/   mish18  , I later learned) and that I guess was the beginning of our friendship.

Around September, after spazzing about Rainie Yang, she called and asked me if I would like to make a forum dedicated to Rainie. I immediately agreed. We talked a lot more after and met up just to talk about it. We had a weird conversation at one time which brought about the ‘OB1 and OB2’ tandem.

She was really insane, I swear. I never met a much more insane person than her. If it got to me, I don’t know. :D I keep her SANE as much as she keeps me INSANE.

And then came Rhanie/ le_byul  .

Rhanie was the girl whom Angel introduced to me as the girl who became her cousin.

Angel set up an online conference and the three of us started giving out ideas on how we will make RYIFC a success and hopefully, merged with the other Rainie forums outside Philippines.

The three of us with the other RYIFC mods then started to build RYIFC which is short for ‘Rainie Yang International Fans Club’. I don’t get to talk to her online that much, unless Angel was online too.

When we officially launched the group in January 2005, I wasn’t able to attend the gathering, so I lost the chance to see Rhanie that day and all the other moderators.

January 22, 2005. I finally got the chance to meet Rhanie when Angel asked me if I would like to go to the KRL event at Redbox in Greenbelt.

I went to the KRL event and there I finally met Rhanie who was dressed up like Rainie. ^^ I remembered the introduction.

Angel: OB1, this is Rhanie. Cuz, this is Nerie.
Rhanie: Wow~ So you’re our purple dudette!

We talked about RYIFC for awhile and then afterwards we went to Mary’s house (or was it her cousin’s house?) to watch a Wo cai show. We also got to watch MKMF since Jerry was there (and so was shinhwa though of course, I didn’t stress out that fact before. I wasn’t really into them then XD. I was more of a BoA and FTTS fan then).

That I guess was the start of our threesome weirdness that I now call, ‘the princess and the bullies.’ XD

After more RYIFC branches and a heavenly creature’s downfall, we began to build our friendship… It took awhile for me to actually be as close to Rhanie as I do now, since we rarely meet and spazz. That changed around the time Rainie released her first album and at the same time developed an interest to Shinhwa.

Come to think of it, it was two years ago when I really got closer to Rhanie and a lot when I came to her hometown. A week with her was something I never really had until the CDO trip.

During the times Angel and I were BOTH insane, Rhanie was the one who keeps us sane. :D

And then…

I remember accompanying Angel to her school. She was getting back on track with her school life at that time. We went to Rhanie’s dorm afterwards because Rhanie borrowed Angel’s external DVD writer at that time. We were in that studying room place in her dorm. Angel and Rhanie were both cursing the DVD writer for not working when someone entered the room.

It was GAB/ miyawoks  .

She was going to study in the room and volunteered to stay and keep an eye on the laptop and the cursed external DVD burner while we went to eat at the canteen. When we came back, Gab got my interest when Rhanie told me she was a fan of Jang Nara. Rhanie remembered I was into Nara (hence the name ‘ jangneri  ’) and told that interesting fact. Gab, I later learned, was the one who was the person Rhan was ranting about in her LJ before who made her watch shinhwa videos.

*Interesting note: A few weeks before that, I had a growing curiosity on shinhwa already because Battle Shinhwa. I was having fun seeing Hye Sung and Min Woo on TV (the only shinhwa members whose names I knew by heart at that time).*

I didn’t know Rhanie and Angel were starting to like them too.

That day, Rhanie, with Gab sitting a few seats away from where we were, was showing us some Shinhwa pictures including the ones from the Wild Photoshoot. She asked me if I knew who the guy in the picture. It was a black and white photo, with a naked man with only a big leaf covering him was laying on the beach.

I told her I can’t remember the name BUT I DO REMEMBER that it WASN’T a very nice sounding name… because the first time I saw him up-close in TV was when he was filming “something…” (which was Spin Kick). XD

You know who it was? Yep, it was Kim Dong Wan. Haha.

Before we left, Gab showed me some Jang Nara pictures and told me some Nara facts that I didn’t know which I can’t remember now. It felt weird to know someone who likes Nara from a friend who likes Rainie. XD

We owe it all to Gab that we, in her term, ‘turned into kimchi.’ Haha.

I even went to Gab’s place with Angel and Rhanie. It felt weird since I wasn’t that close to Gab at that time. Hahaha. It was fun though and we ended up watching Love Letter season 1 (Han Ji Hye was the actress during that show).

Gab suddenly (and up to now) became my husband, my Wannie. :D For some inside joke reason. XD

A few weeks later, specifically January 25, 2006, I went to Ateneo with Angel to meet with Rhanie. We wanted to ‘de-stress’ ourselves from all the school stuff we were having.

Let me stress out the day: JANUARY 25, 2006

Angel told me I was going to finally meet my unnie.

MEG/ parkchoongjae  .

It was my busiest year… that time when everyone else was getting closer and comfortable with each other. The time when everyone finally met one another and everyone got to see one another. I was always out of reach and have little time, even for myself.

So it was only through Angel that I learned I had an ‘older sister’. This sister of mine came about when I became Eric’s demented bratty little sister. My unnie, I found out, was also studying in Ateneo and was once Rhanie and Gab’s classmate.

I wasn’t active online and only got to know bits about the people the girls got to interact with. So when I got to Ateneo, I was surprised to see my unnie.

She was petite and really pretty. I greeted her out, “Unnie!” I think she was surprised just as much as I was with myself. But it felt so comfortable, knowing I had another older sister.

She is our QUEEN. My royal sister. My unnie.

It was raining that day. We were waiting for Jes/ crazieweirdo   (who I also first met that day) outside Rhanie’s dormitory when Gab came with a girl who I was envious of her model-like figure.

It was KATE/ hunted_cat  .

The weirdest thing was, both of them began talking in a fast high-pitched like voices and before I knew it, they were talking in a language I can’t even understand. Nor do I think any normal being could understand. It was almost as if they were talking in a cats’ language!

She's my morning buddy~!!

And I recently found out how much we adore Kaitou St. Tail. We were spazzing about it when we went to Tagaytay. She is one of the few people I know who watched the anime series like me.

At that time, it never occurred to me that those people would matter in my life. That they be the people I will entirely be thankful forever to have in my life. At that time, all I was thinking was to have a good time with Rhanie and Angel to de-stress myself from school.

The starting point for the six of us was probably during Angel’s 21st birthday. We were almost complete (Meg wasn’t there) and it was the time I got to spend a night with the others. And even though Meg wasn’t there, Angel kept talking about her and we were thinking of her. :D

Now, almost a year and a half of being together, I felt as if I finally found the people who will love me as much as I love them.

Before their existence in my life, I felt so different, so out of place. Nobody understood my passion for stuff that is of different language. When I was in high school, besides my Westlife obsession, nobody hid the fact that they don’t like me being interested in Japanese songs and Korean sitcoms and dramas (meaning Nonstop and other old Korean dramas). I guess, when you’re a typical teenager, you don’t like going out of the flow.

At that age I guess, it never occurred to them that when it comes to music or art, you don’t need language because they ARE languages.

When I was a kid, all I ever wanted was to find one person that would become my friend and we will live together forever. When we get married, we would make each other godmothers for our kids and we’ll live close together.

Just like Anne and Diana in the story, Anne of Green Gables. :D

I was lucky because I didn’t have just one friend. One Diana. But FIVE.

One to the Six. FOREVER.

Six is one lucky number.

ON WHY ORANGE MINIONS:

It wasn’t something that we planned for the six of us to use actually. It just suddenly became us. hahaha.

The reason to Orange Minions was because I was watching Shinhwa’s fifth fanmeeting (or was it the fourth?) It was the concert where Andy just came back from the States after being gone for one year.

It was an awesome event. Everyone in the crowd was wearing their ORANGE Shinhwa jackets. It was so cool and so… orange.

When the part where Andy came out and Shinhwa was singing ‘First Love’ (and I was wiping my tears), my brother went inside our computer room and watched the clip with me.

The fans suddenly made a big massive wave which my brother find so cool. Orange balloons and orange light sticks were everywhere. He went O_________O;;;

and then my brother said,

“Wow~ they are like Orange Minions of Shinhwa!”

So there you have it, the story of OM. Orange Minions also was supposed to be the name of the Shinhwa Tribute site Angel was planning to do. ^^

DON'T WE ALL

I was parked in front of the mall wiping off my car. I had just come from the car wash and was waiting for my wife to get out of work. Coming my way from across the parking lot was what society would consider a bum. From the looks of him, he had no car, no home, no clean clothes, and no money. There are times when you feel generous but there are other times that you just don't want to be bothered. This was one of those "don't want to be bothered times." "I hope he doesn't ask me for any money," I thought. He didn't. He came and sat on the curb in front of the bus stop but he didn't look like he could have enough money to even ride the bus. After a few minutes he spoke. "That's a very pretty car," he said. He was ragged but he had an air of dignity around him. His scraggly blond beard keep more than his face warm. I said, "thanks," and continued wiping off my car.

He sat there quietly as I worked. The expected plea for money never came. As the silence between us widened something inside said, "ask him if he needs any help." I was sure that he would say "yes" but I held true to the inner voice. "Do you need any help?" I asked. He answered in three simple but profound words that I shall never forget. We often look for wisdom in great men and women. We expect it from those of higher learning and accomplishments.

I expected nothing but an outstretched grimy hand. He spoke the three words that shook me. "Don't we all?" he said.

I was feeling high and mighty, successful and important, above a bum in the street, until those three words hit me like a twelve gauge shotgun. Don't we all? I needed help. Maybe not for bus fare or a place to sleep, but I needed help. I reached in my wallet and gave him not only enough for bus fare, but enough to get a warm meal and shelter for the day. Those three little words still ring true. No matter how much you have, no matter how much you have accomplished, you need help too. No matter how little you have, no matter how loaded you are with problems, even without money or a place to sleep, you can give help.

Even if it's just a compliment, you can give that. You never know when you may see someone that appears to have it all. They are waiting on you to give them what they don't have. A different perspective on life, a glimpse at something beautiful, a respite from daily chaos, that only you through a torn world can see. Maybe the man was just a homeless stranger wandering the streets. Maybe he was more than that.

Maybe he was sent by a power that is great and wise, to minister to a soul too comfortable in themselves.

Maybe God looked down, called an Angel, dressed him like a bum, then said, "go minister to that man cleaning the car, that man needs help." Don't we all?

I just finished changing my layout.

For the first time, no fandom included. ^^ Thanks to mooncat for the picture in the header. It has a very serene feeling to it, I just had to use it on something. :)
